Overview:
The
Ultimate Body Press Joist Mounted Pull Up Bar is
a great piece of equipment. The best thing about a joist mounted pull
up bar is that you’re not going to deal with any clearance issues that
you might with a doorframe or wall mounted bar. You can work out on a
bar like this hard and not worry about hitting your face, knees or body
on any obstructions.
The Ultimate Body Press Joist Mounted Pull Up Bar is made out of
steel and has a 350 lb weight capacity. I couldn’t find a single review
on this bar that said the durability of this machine is questionable.
Even the negative reviews stated that the Joist Mounted Pull Up Bar is
very well built. You won’t have to worry about this bar flexing or
coming apart even during your most intense workouts.
Ultimate Body Fitness also offers a full line of fitness accessories
like push-up rings, abdominal straps and gymnastic rings fit this bar
and can easily be installed. Though not included, purchasing this
additional equipment will greatly increase the number of exercises that
you can perform with the Joist Mounted Pull Up Bar.

Assembly and Installation:
Like most chin-up/pull-up bars, the Ultimate Body Press Joist Mounted
Pull Up Bar is easy to assemble. It should only take about 15 minutes
to measure, drill your holes and hang the bar. Some reviewers did
comment that they had to drill out the holes on the bar a little more,
so be aware that this may be the case when you get your delivery. Keep
in mind, assembly only happens once, and afterward you’re going to have a
strong piece of exercise equipment.
About the Manufacturer:
Ultimate Body Press is located in Pennsylvania and was founded in
2006. They have everything you need for high intensity, body weight
resistance workouts for people with limited space. They provide a huge
line of the best dip stations, dip stands and pull up bars, including a Wall Mounted Pull Up Bar.
What We Love About the Ultimate Body Press Joist Mounted Pull Up Bar
The best thing about the Joist Mounted Pull Up Bar is that Ultimate
Body Press built this thing to last. It has a 250 lb weight capacity and
can take a beating. I didn’t see a single review questioning its
durability. Another great thing about this bar is the parallel grips. So
besides the normal chin-ups and pull-ups with narrow, neutral and wide
grips, you also get the ability to do hammer grip chin-ups/pull-ups to
but serious focus on the shoulders and back. Ultimate Body Press makes
two separate Joist Mounted Pull Up Bars; one with a 26” width between
the parallel bars and one with 19”. Depending on your body size, make
sure you buy the one that fits you best.
What Isn’t So Great
There are a couple of nuisances that aren’t so great with the
Ultimate Body Press Joist Mounted Pull Up bar. First, as I said earlier,
you may have to drill out the mounting holes again. Some users said
that the bolts were too tight or they couldn’t get the bolts through at
all. If you need to do this, it’s going to take a metal drill bit that
you may or may not need to purchase. The other nuisance with this bar is
that the grips tend to slip. With foam grips, I don’t think they last
very long on any chin-up/pull-up bar. So, if you don’t like the feel of a
metal grip, then you’re probably going to have to spend a little money
on exercise tape.
Final Word on the Ultimate Body Press Joist Mounted Pull Up Bar
The Ultimate Body Press Joist Mounted Pull Up Bar comes in two
designs based on the spacing on the parallel grips. One has a 26”
spacing and the other has 19” spacing. Both retail for $109.99, but are
sold for around $65 on the manufacturer’s website. This is a great bar
and for that price you will definitely get your monies worth
