First and foremost, the Body Solid patented center drive design makes the footprint of this machine very small, thus creating a compact and solid machine. The elliptical machine is made from a powder-coated steel frame adding to its strength. Finally, the machines low center of gravity keeps it securely in place during the most intense workouts. A lot of reviewers also commented on how quiet this machine is during exercising.

Compact Design

At only four feet long and two and a half feet wide, the Best Fitness E1 Elliptical is compact in size. This is mostly due to the Body Solid patented center drive design. The design allows all of the elliptical mechanism to be contained within the main body of the machine, instead of having a large flywheel out front. Needing very little space for a workout, this elliptical machine can basically be slid right up against a wall and be out of the way. This elliptical machine can be stored easily.

Foot Pedals

The foot pedals on the Body Solid Best Fitness E1 Elliptical are one of the very few comfort features on this machine. The foot pedals are low to the ground which makes getting on and off the machine very easy. Additionally, they are padded for comfort during the user’s workout. The best feature, however, is that the foot pedals are positioned closely to each other. The design provides for a very comfortable elliptical motion and takes stress off of the hips. One final feature is that the Best Fitness E1 Elliptical allows for backward motion, which is great for targeting different muscle groups.

Incline

One drawback on the Best Fitness E1 Elliptical is that there is no incline capability at all. Most elliptical machines in this price range you are trying to ensure that you have an automatic functioning incline rather than having to manually set it. However, Body Solid® doesn’t provide incline at all. This is very disappointing as you can really increase intensity and work different muscle groups by adjusting incline on an elliptical machine.

Programmed Workouts

One area where the Body Solid® Best Fitness E1 Elliptical lacks is in the programmed workouts. The computer only provides 12 programmed workouts. There are other elliptical machines around the same price that will provide twice as many pre-programmed workouts. Additionally, other elliptical machines have interfaces with online apps that provide an endless amount of workouts. Finally, the Best Fitness E1 Elliptical lacks any ability to download and store the data so that your performance can be tracked.

Water Bottle Holder

While Body Solid tried to do a good thing by providing a water bottle holder, they did a horrible job by positioning it on the frame outside the arm controls. It is nearly impossible to get to the bottle while exercising, which all but negates the purpose of having a water bottle holder. Hopefully, Body Solid® corrects this issue in future models of their exercise equipment.

Body Solid lists the price of the Best Fitness E1 Elliptical at $1,745, but it can be found quite cheaper across the internet. At this price this elliptical machine is a decent buy. You are getting a quality machine with great elliptical movement in a compact design. The Best Fitness E1 Elliptical will last you a long time. The things that may keep you from making this purchase are the lack of incline, the lack of computer options and disregard for comfort features.
